Pet Urine Treatment in Jacksonville, FL
Unfortunately, when pet urine finds its way onto and into your fine area rug, it often requires professional attention to remedy. Urine can chemically damage a wool or natural fiber rug, especially when left unattended.
The problem is twofold: bacteria and pH. When urine is first deposited onto a rug, it is acidic. This acidic state is a perfect breeding ground for destructive bacteria, which begin to accumulate almost immediately. Once the urine dries, as bacteria feeds on it further and produces its own waste, it becomes alkaline and it becomes far more difficult to remove. This is because the urine begins to oxidize and react with the dye in your rug to change the color of the rug. This discoloration can be permanent if not attended to immediately because it changes the dye structure altogether, often leaving a permanent yellow-gold appearance where the urine was.
Our pet urine removal process includes full deodorizing with deep odor treatment as well as spot treatment for any areas of the rug affected by stains or discolorations. While we cannot guarantee stain removal, odor removal is easier to guarantee, particularly with handmade rugs.
